As a newbie in developing php, i have just written a php file and would like to test it out on a web browser. How can i do that? Do i need to install anything or configure any environments to make it work?

I’m trying to run PHP, both as a file by itself and embedded in HTML, and it won’t work! I have Apache up and running too! Someone told me I need to store files in the localhost, because when i type http://localhost/phpinfo.php it works!

I mean i want to turn my computer to a server, so i can run .php files easily. I can do that for .asp files but i don’t know anything for .php files.

I am a beginner, I have some knowledge of html and understand that php is better with uploading files (which I can’t do with html either), but I can’t really get anything out of the tutorials on the web. I really need someone to tell me elementary style how to get started with step by step process. I would really appreciate your knowledge.
